Google DeepMind introduces AI for robots that walk and carry objects
On July 30, Google DeepMind introduced Gemini Robotics 2, an AI system for following instructions and controlling whole-body robot actions.
Demonstrations showed a robot walking to an object, picking it up and carrying it to a shelf, alongside dexterous manipulation and multi-robot collaboration.
The action-control models are offered to early-access partners. This was not a general consumer launch of a household robot.

Robots could handle chores across different rooms
Reliable movement and manipulation could expand the chores people can request: bringing clothes from a bedroom to the washer, or carrying dishes to the kitchen. Robots could handle the transport that appliances leave to people.
With wider adoption, some rental homes could include a robot-operated housework service. Tidying and laundry might be finished before residents return, leaving more evening time for themselves or their families.
