Google DeepMind introduced Gemini Robotics On-Device 2, which runs on robots, in its July 2026 model card. Access was limited to selected testers, with limitations including unfamiliar tasks.

Choose which chores to delegate
Imagine a robot learning household preferences and storage locations. On busy days it cooks and clears up; on weekends you make a favorite meal yourself. Cooking becomes something you can choose to enjoy.
Homes could be arranged for robots
Storage that robots can reach and layouts linking laundry to cupboards could become more common. Arranging the home for easy handling would expand the work robots can do.
Housing listings might show supported chores alongside floor area and distance to a station. Rent comparisons could include how much time a home saves each week.
Families decide how to use the time
Children might learn to tell robots what they need before learning every chore themselves. Families could spend more of their discussions on what to do together, alongside dividing necessary work.
Going out at the weekend, talking at home or simply resting could become easier choices. Household robots might change both who does the work and how daily time is spent.
